Nobody enjoys hearing their language get butchered, especially the Dutch. Dutch is actually known to be one of the hardest languages to learn, and the locals really don’t enjoy hearing it pronounced the wrong way. Really, if roles were reversed, would you? Anyway, most of the locals can speak English as well as the next guy, so they’d prefer that you just talk to them in English rather than stumble all over their beautiful national language.
