Another distinct trait of a Filipino is the “bahala na” attitude, or leaving everything to God. Being predominantly Catholic, the Philippines is a nation with strong religious faith. Yet there is a negative aspect to it, and it is this attitude. It’s like saying I leave everything to God as I do not control my own destiny. This affects work habits, tolerance to wrongdoings, and is more prevalent among the older generations. It is deeply ingrained in their culture. But to some, it is simply an excuse not to do things they don’t want to do, but have to. Whichever, just remember this and don’t be surprised by some attitudes.
