Try not to be the “educator” to the “uneducated” in the Philippines. It will not work for you. There are so many other things to discuss. Why put yourself in a situation you may regret later on? If you are just making small talk, pick a topic that is neutral. Food is always a good topic, or something where you will tickle their pride. Be a good listener too.
