The local version of home-distilled liquor is “Lambanog.” It is potent, and can at times be deadly. Many home distillers have no training in distilling, and do not care about cleanliness or contamination. Some people have died of alcohol poisoning after consuming some “bad” Lambanog. Stay safe with the local brandy or gin, as most locals do anyway. Just remember to drink moderately. Filipinos do not like drunk , obnoxious foreigners. Better yet, if you can, stick to beer.
