A negative trait of Filipinos is that most do not follow simple rules, such as jaywalking, trespassing, and so on. Historians blame this on their ancestors showing defiance to rules of the colonizers. Be that as it may, it seems that time would have healed old wounds but not in this case. But it also could be due to plain laziness or indolence. Even their National Hero Dr. Jose Rizal wrote about “The Indolence of the Filipino People.” Whatever the case may be, be alert about this trait. Always better to be prepared, rather than shocked.
