Filipinos are friendly, but an over-friendly one may have bad intentions. Be aware that there are many con-artists who love to prey on foreign tourists. Reports of scams and thievery have always been on police blotters. Alas, that is the end of it, do not expect to recover what was lost. Foreigners who appear to be alone are the targets for most of these scams. It is harder to scam a group than an individual. Never trust a stranger with your financial info, or your valuables. Even a sweet old lady could actually be the devil in disguise. Or a well dressed gentleman. They come in all forms. And don’t fall for the sob stories, your emotions will be targeted as well. If you feel you are with a con-artist, excuse yourself and get out.
