Disrespect Their Elderly

Source: https://visayas.politics.com

Anywhere you go, elderly people need to be respected. Respect for elders is a Filipino trait that is very powerful. They address the elders with reverence, using the words po and opo, using ate (older sister), kuya (older brother), tita (aunt) or tito (uncle), or lola (grandmother), and lolo (grandfather), irregardless of blood relations, and depending how much older they are than you. Never call them by their first names without the proper respect accorded. Remember again that they are over-sensitive, and if they feel you are disrespecting their elders, you will be confronted. Remember also that the elderly may have different points of view from the younger generations. They may ot be as patient, or as friendly. This may be due to being shy or embarrassed easily, or fear that they may not understand you. Be patient with them, and always be polite and respectful.
