Who Exactly Is Elin Nordegren

She was born Elin Maria Pernilla Nordegren on January 1, 1980 and grew up in a little town called Vaxholm outside Stockholm, Sweden. Her parents, Thomas Nordegren, a radio journalist who used to serve as a bureau chief in Washington, D.C. and Barbro Holmberg, a politician who was a former Governor of Gävleborg County as well as the former Swedish migration and asylum policy minister, stressed the importance of education and independence in the family.

Her parents separated when Elin was just seven, and when her father moved to Germany in 1997, she and her twin sister went with him to study for a year at the John F. Kennedy School in Berlin, where they studied German and English.
