Even before the explosive article broke out a day before Thanksgiving of 2009, stories of Tiger’s affair with Rachel Uchitel, a nightclub hostess, started circulating in the internet. When it became clear that Tiger and his team of high-profile lawyers couldn’t stop the tabloid newspaper from releasing the story, Tiger took it upon himself to do damage control. He arranged a phone call between his wife Elin and Rachel, who backed up Tiger’s statement that there hadn’t been any sexual relationship between the two of them. The two women spoke for about half an hour, at the end of which, Tiger was supposedly satisfied. However, Elin was not and after Tiger let his guard down and left his phone unattended, Elin did some investigating of her own.
