Protection from Abuse

Any person, most especially a child, exposed to any type of abuse, be it physical, emotional, or sexual, can become scarred and force them into assimilating a Narcissistic Personality. These forms of abuse can come from parents, adult caregivers, classmates, co-workers and even siblings.
When a person is exposed to excessive taunting and bullying, especially from their peers, the victim might take-on narcissistic traits to help them block their traumatic memories. Because of this, it is important to protect them from abuse by encouraging them to speak out. Providing them with a safe environment where they can freely express themselves without fear can counteract the effect of these traumatic events.
Ultimately, putting an end to stressors that cause an individual to develop low self-esteem, lack of self-confidence and damaged self-image, ingredients that feed narcissistic behavior, helps in the treatment of the disorder.
