Now this is just strange. Like…creepy strange.
Inspiration is one thing, but imitation is another. Lauren Bullen, a travel blogger and Instagrammer, experienced this firsthand when she stumbled across an Instagram account that looked shockingly like her own.
Bullen, whose Instagram account is @GypseaLust, came upon an account, @diana_alexa, that had stunning similarities to her photographs. And not just that they were stylistically the same, or taken in the same places — they were exactly the same.
Her “admirer,” Diana, had traveled to the exact same locations, worn the same clothing, eaten the same food, and taken the same pictures as Bullen, who wrote about it on her blog, gypsealust.com.
She explained that “Part of why I do what I do is to inspire and motivate people through our art – our imagery. Which involves the full package; destination, framing, outfits, positioning, captions & edits.”
Needless to say, she was not remotely flattered by @diana_alexa’s ripoffs of her photographs. Because, as Bullen writes, “stealing someone’s art – that’s never okay.”
Bullen was hurt and creeped out at first, but she has since talked to Diana and they have come to an understanding. According to Bullen, Diana “just got inspired and liked the style of my work.”
Now this is becoming a little much…
How this girl even find all these locations?
Such a strange thing to do…
