This actor not only has starred in many films and TV shows, he created some of them. One of the more popular TV shows he starred in and co-created was The Office. It was a “mockumentary” in style which has been widely imitated (Modern Family, The comeback). Gervais played a repulsive, self-deluded boss for two seasons of the original show, but made a fortune when the show was internationally syndicated and remade for other countries. Most notable was the American version of The Office starring Steve Carell. Gervais is reputed to have a net worth of $90 million, but he probably is worth more…thanks to the show’s residuals. Even as the money keeps rolling in, Gervais is surely planning something new. We just have to wait and see.
