The capital of Arkansas and the largest city in the state, Little Rock has one of the highest rates of violent crime among major cities in the US, ranking third in 2019. It has a violent crime rate of 1,663 and a property crime rate of 6,932 per 100,000 people. Little Rock has more violent crimes than any city in Arkansas. And even though there was decline in violent crimes in 2016, the number spiked again in 2017. Police blame the high crime rates to rival gang activity.
