The Lion’s Position

CTF

You might not have paid a lot of attention to your dog’s sleeping positions before, but we’re learning that there is actually something behind it. The Lion’s Pose, which is also called ‘The Sphinx,’ is when your pooch sleeps with their head laying on top of their paws, often resembling statues of lions in front of big buildings. Sometimes this position also has your pups back legs out to one side.
What this position means is that they are resting, but not in a deep sleep. Vet expert at Pumpkin Pet Insurance, Dr. Sarah Wooten, DVM, CVJ, explains “dogs will often start out in this position if they feel like they will need to jump up quickly.”
