Who doesn’t love it when their puppy wants to snuggle up and creep close to you as they sleep? This position, called Back to Back, is just as the name suggests, when your dog enjoys sleeping back to back with you, another family member, or even another pet. This is a position that allows them to feel comfort and love. 

Just like humans, sleeping back to back with someone says that they feel comfortable with that person, that there’s a sense of intimacy. When they rest against you this way, they are proving to you that they trust you. Dog trainer Jen Jones says, “Dogs may choose to sleep this way with one person in the home they feel safest with.” And if you see them sleeping this way with other family members, and even other pets, then you know they feel secure.
