The ocean sunfish usually reside in tropical areas and can grow to an astounding size. Some of the larger species caught can weigh as much as 5,100 pounds with a fin length of 14 feet. These are also otherwise known as Mola Mola, and experts say that they are the largest and heaviest bony fish found on the planet. They have a flat body and huge head that can be quite daunting, but don’t be fooled because these often fall prey to sea lions, killer whales, and sharks. Hence, their size doesn’t guarantee their place on the food chain.
