A Leonardo Masterpiece

Back in 1502, Leonardo da Vinci was reportedly hired to create a magnificent painting for an Italian statesman of the Battle of Anghiari. But some years later, sometime in the 1550s, another painter named Giorgio Vasari was commissioned to paint over it, something that he couldn’t seem to make himself do. The story claims that rather than cover the painting, a fake wall was installed to cover it in order to prevent the destruction of the original da Vinci which was discovered later on.
