Royal Colombo Golf Club (Western Province, Sri Lanka)

Built in 1879, the Royal Colombo Golf Club is the oldest golf club in Sri Lanka. Located in the capital city of Colombo, this 18-hole par 71 course is unique in that an active trail line crosses over some of the holes in the course, passing behind tee eight, and even crosses in front of green six. You would think that this can be very distracting, with trains passing by every 15 or 20 minutes on weekdays, but it is said that the railways give the course it’s very identity. The course is quite challenging, with well-placed water hazards, but don’t worry as there are locals who can dive for your ball in case you need it for a small price.
