Designed by architect Scott Miller, who has designed more than 75 golf courses, including the Coeur d’Alene Resort Golf Course in Idaho, the Cholla Course at We-Ko-Pa Golf Club in the desert of Arizona opened in late 2001, catering to the more adventurous golfers. The 72-par award-winning course boasts of amazing views of the mountains but with its desert setting, golfers need not only contend with the stifling heat during summer, but also with desert dwellers like the rattlesnake and the notorious Cholla cacti, also known as the jumping cholla which can painfully sting you as the joint attachments are loose and can easily attach itself even at the slightest brush.
