First opened in 1993 and designed by Gary Player, winner of nine major championships on both the regular and Champions Tour, the Lost City Golf Course in Sun City, South Africa impresses with its exotic desert design but is also known for the infamous 13th hole, also called the “watering hole” or “crocodile hole” as it contains more than 30 Nile crocodiles waiting for unsuspecting golfers who will make the mistake of retrieving their ball. However, the 72-par course does have a sign that warns people not to approach or enter the crocodile pond as Sun City will not be held liable for anything untoward that may happen.
