The second actor to play the role of Darrin was a talent named Dick Sargent. Many have heard rumors that he died from a battle with AIDS. That’s far from the truth. In fact, Pilato told Fox News what the real score was. He had mentioned, “Yes, [Sargent] was a man who happened to be gay, but that has been a misconception all these years.” While Sargent actually passed away, the cause for death was prostate cancer. He was laid to rest in 1994.
