The term Darrin Syndrome came to be a Hollywood lingo because of Bewitched. While the show did air episodes where Darrin wasn’t around, avid fans did notice and feel his absence. While there were those who were completely fooled by the transition from York to Sargent, the more attentive viewers did pick up on the change of the two actors. In fact, the switch became such a jarring reality for many that the Darrin Syndrome came to mean the act of replacing lead actors with new stars. This new lexicon is used to this very day.
