Elizabeth Montgomery wanted to retire from the sitcom even before filming began

While another actress had been set to play the role of Samantha, Montgomery also wasn’t too keen on starring on the TV show. She almost turned down the part. Pilato talked to the British newspaper, The Daily Mail, about this and said that the star had originally wanted to retire from acting. This happened even before shooting was filmed. However, she was eventually convinced otherwise. Thanks to and show producer Bill Asher, she went for it instead. He had successfully changed her mind and now, the show is considered a classic. Ask many from today’s generation and they may have seen some episodes or are otherwise familiar with the title.
