If you think that Magical Girl copied its storyline from Bewitched, the sitcom itself may not have been quite as original as well. The premise of the show was borrowed heavily from two previous films: 1942’s I Married a Witch and 1958’s Bell, Book and Candle. While may might have assumed this to be a blatant plagiarism of the concept, the show managed to escape accusations and lawsuits because it was made by Screen Gems. The two films’ production company was Columbia Pictures and this was a simple detail that got them out of trouble.
