The show was all about Magic, and this meant that they had to find ways to instantaneously make things appear and disappear. Samantha’s tricks required the team to use a lot of special effects. Unfortunately, but the show was extremely limited by the technology during that era. There was no way to do things but to sit and wait. For her house-cleaning spell, for instance, producers literally needed to stop taping while the crew members had to quickly clean up the set. They only started rolling again when the stage was clear of the clutter. Unfortunately for Montgomery, she had to stand in the same awkward pose until everything was in place. Actors then had to be extremely patient because that was required of their craft.
