If you plan to travel to Hawaii, please be mindful that the islands have its own time zone. The picturesque state of Hawaii has its own time zone referred to as Hawaiian Standard Time and it is one of two states that does not follow the Daylight Savings Time. Hawaii Standard time is equivalent to UTC/GMT -10 hours. Also, Hawaii is such a relaxed environment and there is no need to rush to get where you need to be. So, if you hear of the phrase “I’m not late, I’m on Hawaiian Time,” it generally refers to arriving later than expected for an occasion or a meeting. When on vacation, it is fine to be mellow and not schedule everything to the last minute. But, make sure that you don’t stick to “Hawaiian Time” when boarding your flights and other important time sensitive portions of your itinerary. Time is precious and what we do with our time matters.
