Honk Your Horn

In Hawaii, it is not that hard to take it easy and hang loose. From July 2017 to January 2018, the state’s Traffic Violations Bureau says five citations were given out for “unnecessary use of horn” on Oahu. As a matter of fact, back in February 2018, a woman received a $72 ticket after honking her horn at a police vehicle. Try not to honk your horn as you are most likely to get a pretty nasty reaction from the other driver especially when you get outside of Honolulu. Unless it is a major emergency such as to avoid an accident, try to keep your hand away from the horn. Section 15-19.27 of the Revised Ordinances of Honolulu specifically says, “The driver of a motor vehicle shall, when reasonably necessary to ensure safe operation, give audible warning with his or her horn; but shall not otherwise use such horn when upon a highway.”
