Chicago winters can be brutal, so be warned. It does not mean you should not visit during winter, it means you should be adequately prepared. Chicagoans live through these winters every year, and they will not take kindly to first-time visitors complaining about the weather. Like most Northern cities, the best times to visit are during the seasons of fall and spring. This way you won’t slip and slide on icy pavement, and the wind chill won’t be an issue.
