Don’t Forget The Beaches During The Warmer Seasons

Chicago is blessed to have several beautiful, but small beaches. The pleasure of the sun, water and sand will impress any visitor, though if you come from a tropical country with awesome beaches, just remember…you are in Chicago. It is not known for its beaches, but nonetheless locals will want to show them off to you. They are not ocean beaches, they are uniquely beaches of Lake Michigan, one of the five Great Lakes, and the only one entirely located within the United States. They are often referred to as the “third coast” after those of the Atlantic Ocean and Pacific Ocean. The sands are often soft, and off-white, and are known as the “singing sands” because of the squeaky noise it makes when walked upon (caused by high quartz content). There are also sand dunes, some with grassy tops – great for picnics. So it promises to be a unique and worth seeing experience.
