When you buy a bottle or can of drink, whether it’s water, soda, juice, or beer, don’t throw the plastic or glass bottle, or can away as you will get a refund for these. The Danish employs the ABC deposit system (or PANT), where you pay a deposit but gets refunded for the containers depending on the volume it contained or whether the can or bottle will be recycled or reused. You can get from DKK 1.00, for glass bottles and aluminum cans less than 1 liter, to DKK 3.00 for bottles and cans containing 1 to 20 liters. You can be sure that if you leave or throw away any of these, someone will surely pick it up to have the refund collected.
