Assume You Can’t Go Far With Very Little French

When you ask around for directions or help, you’ll realize that the French aren’t really that good at languages. In fact, they’re the first to admit that they’re bad at it. So, they often walk away from tourists, but not because they’re rude, but simply because they don’t want to feel embarrassed at just how bad they are at English. If you want them to be more than willing to help you out, don’t be afraid to whip out the little French that you know. A simple “Bonjour” goes a long, long way. It lets them know that you’re interested in their language, and if that’s the case, they’re more than open to learning from you as well.
