Assume Cars Stop for Pedestrians

Pedestrians aren’t always prioritized. Well, not in France. There are pedestrian crossings all over the area, but these aren’t meant as a signal for the vehicles to stop. It’s more seen as a place where you might see a person or two walk across. If you want to go from one side of the street to the other, make sure you make your intention clear. Signal to the car in front of you and cautiously step on the line. You just don’t go across recklessly. Rather, cross with care and see to it that the cars actually slow down when you do.
