Business meetings and official powwows start on time in France, but parties are a different story. If you happen to get an invite to a shindig, you can take your time dressing up. Even if the invitation says that the event starts at eight, people are most likely to come way after. Even if you know the hosts very well, you won’t find anyone there should you decide to go early. Just to be on the safe side, show up half an hour to an hour later. Otherwise, it will be extremely awkward for you and the hosts.
