Demonstrations and strikes are common in Greece, and can be about many different things, and may escalate to violence. November 17 is a date with a lot of demonstrations. The date marks the anniversary of the 1973 student uprising against the military regime.  Take note of this, and best avoid areas where the demonstrations are.
