Never Bother To Eat At City Tavern

Source: http://revolutionarypie.files.wordpress.com

The City Tavern is one of the most touristy places in Philadelphia, considering that it has been around since 1773. Back in the day, the original owner Daniel Smith would rent the place out for $300 a year with a full staff to man the kitchens, bar, dining rooms, sleeping quarters, and everything else that was required by those leasing the property. And although it holds a ton of history including Paul Revere’s arrival, its use during meetings and banquets held for George Washington, basically these days, it’s an expensive place to stay or have a meal just to get a sense of what it might have been like to have been alive back then.
