Never Go Swimming In The Schuylkill River

The world Schuykill River may seem difficult to spell but it’s not actually that hard to say. Pronounced SKOO-kel, which basically is Dutch for hidden river, this body of water is now used for recreational purposes like rowing, outrigger paddling, and dragon boat races, but it doesn’t mean that you should actually swim in it. Although there are quite a few that attempt to do so, the water itself is said to be incredibly cold and worse, riddled with chemicals, oils and raw sewage. So unless you don’t care about getting a ton of dirty bacteria all over your body, never go swimming in the Schuykill River.
