Even if you don’t consider yourself the touchy-feely type of person, Philadelphians consider themselves huggers. Although many of the city’s residents are known for their tough demeanor, this doesn’t change the fact that they prefer a hug to a handshake, even if you’ve just met. We’re not saying that you should just go out there and start hugging every single person you meet on the street, but if you happen to be introduced and they go in for a hug, never find it weird but just reciprocate the movement in the best way you can.
