24. Do not Over-tip

Many of us are used to the idea of tipping big, especially after being served well in restaurants and hotels, a practice that isn’t commonplace in Rome.
While gratuities are accepted, waiters, baristas and bartenders do not expect customers to leave them large tips as they are paid decent salaries. “Copertos” or cover charges, are already included in bills and serve to cover the cost for items such as table bread, regardless of whether you ate some or not. If ever you do decide to leave a tip, the best way to do it is to leave an amount slightly higher than what appears on the bill.
