Believe it or not, men found women who don’t work more attractive some 50 years ago. By the late 1960s, more women were working since the war years. Still, it was more accepted for single women to work rather than married women. The primary duty of a wife was to be a homemaker. Working wives were thought to destabilize home life and their families. Worse, they were looked down upon as being disrespectful and unappreciative of their husbands. Married women must have had such a low self-esteem. It’s a good thing times have changed for the better. And thank goodness men got wiser.
