The Life if a Single Mom

Single moms in the US face many challenges, because finding affordable and dependable childcare can sometimes be an oxymoron. Having predictable work schedules that respect the work/life balance of a single parent is also difficult to find in a lot of positions. However, since 2015, the share of single mothers in the workforce has climbed about 4%. That may not seem like a lot — but seeing as how 5.3% growth for industries is already considered great strides towards progress, a 4% rise with no discernible difference in legislation or federal policy changes is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, it is a striking rise even compared with other groups of women who have increased their participation in the workforce, pre-pandemic.
