This 59 year old English actor has many awards to his name, including an Academy Award, a Golden Globe Award, 2 BAFTA Awards, and 3 Screen Actors Guild Awards. He was identified in the late 1980s as one of the young British actors, but only received more widespread attention in 1995 on the television adaptation of Pride and Prejudice. This led to several films such as The English Patient, Bridget Jones’s Diary, Shakespear in Love, The King’s Speech, Kingsman: The Secret Service, and the sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. He was awarded a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame in 2011. Firth is a long standing supporter of Survival International – a non governmental organization that defends the rights of tribal people. He also is involved with the Refugee Council, a UK based organization that works with refugees and asylum seekers. You may know this celebrated actor now, but you would ot have recognized him when he was much younger.
