This 61 year old American actress and activist is known for biographical film roles, particularly her performance as Tina Turner in What’s Love Got to Do with It. She won the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical, and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress as well. While she began her career in film in the 1980s, she appeared in films nearly every year in the 1990s. The 2000s saw her appearing in at least 1 film a year, and her popularity was surely picking up.
