This highly prolific American actor is also a producer. He is well known for his roles in films like Shaft, Die Hard with a Vengeance, Pulp Fiction, and Unbreakable, to mention a few. He also has lent his voice to many films, and video games. He is ranked as the highest all-time box office star with over $7 billion total US box office gross. But, growing up was rough for this only child who was reared by his mother (his father lived away and died from alcoholism). He attended several segregated schools, and experienced the ugly head of racial prejudice. In 1969, he and several other students held members of the Morehouse College board of trustees hostage on the campus demanding reforms. The college agreed to change their policies, but Jackson was charged and convicted of unlawful confinement, a second degree felony. He was active with the Black Power movement, but before any untoward incident occurred, Jackson’s mother sent him to Los Angeles after the FBI told her that he would die within a year if he stayed with the movement. Well, his younger days were also plagued by drug abuse, until his rehabilitation in the 1990s. Check out his photos during the early years, not so different, but surely not as untroubled.
