The world of basketball may have given Kobe everything, but it was not the only thing. In November of 1999, he met 17 year old Vanessa Laine who was working as a backup dancer in a studio building. Kobe was there to work on his debut musical album. They began dating, and became engaged 6 months later. There was no prenuptial agreement…Vanessa said Kobe “loved her too much for one.” They married on April 18, 2001. Kobe’s parents and 2 sisters did not attend the ceremony, his parents were opposed to the marriage for a number of reasons. This disagreement lasted for over two years, until the couple’s first daughter was born. The first child Natalia was born in 2003. Second daughter, Gianna followed in 2006, but in 2011, Vanessa filed for divorce. However, by 2013, both Kobe and Vanessa called off the divorce. 2016 saw another daughter, Bianka, become part of the Bryant family. The last daughter, Capri, was born in June 2019. Kobe was a practicing Catholic, and dearly loved his family.
