Kobe was closely scrutinized and criticized during the 2004-05 season, and his reputation was tarnished from what happened over the previous year. Jackson’s book, The Last Season: A Team In Search of Its Soul, had a number of criticisms on Kobe, particularly saying he was “un-coachable.” Yet, despite differences with Kobe, Jackson returned to the Lakers when Tomjanovich left due to health issues. This was a turning point for Kobe’s career… the two let bygones be bygones and worked together to bring the team to the playoffs. Bryant scored 62 points through 3 quarters against the Dallas Mavericks, outscoring the whole team 62-61. Then, in a game with the Miami Heat in 2006, Kobe and Shaq shook hands and traded hugs, signifying their feud was over. A few days later, Kobe scored a career high 81 points against the Toronto Raptors. Only the 100 point game of Chamberlain in 1962 was higher.
