Bryant was called “one of the greatest players in the history of our game,” by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver, and the New York Times wrote that he had “one of the most decorated careers in the history of the sport.” There are just so many awards and records that Kobe has achieved. Some here, are what made his legacy. Even fellow players like Kevin Durant, Dwyane Wade, and Dirk Nowitski, considered Bryant as the Jordan of their generation. He was the Lakers’ all-time leading scorer, and his five titles are tied for the most in franchise history. The Press-Enterprise described Kobe as “maybe the greatest Laker in the organization’s history,” a remarkable accolade considering the likes of Jerry West, Wilt Chamberlain, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Kobe was an 18-time All-Star, second only to Kareem’s 19. In his 20 year career, he was the first guard to play 20 seasons in the NBA, scored 40 plus points in 121 games, and recorded a triple double 21 times.
