28. Nomophobia: Fear of having no mobile phone

This new-ish phenomenon is a byproduct of the digital age in which we live, as most people are joined at the hip to their mobile phones. First named in 2008 in a study conducted by the UK Post Office, this fear causes sufferers a tremendous deal of anxiety, simply thinking of being out of mobile coverage area, or having no access to their cellphones. The phobia also involves extreme trepidation over running out of battery, or worse, losing one’s mobile device.
