1. Phobophobia: Fear of phobias

We start with the mean Mother of All Phobias, the fear of phobias itself: phobophobia. This type of phobia is perhaps the vaguest, yet among the most intense of the lot. It is a deep-seated fear of getting or developing a phobia and is marked by a non-specific, general sense of internal dread. This means that there is not necessarily one particular external trigger that brings on the phobic response, as much as there is a constant feeling of great apprehension, on the inside. Because of its vague nature, phobophobia often co-exists with other general anxiety and panic disorders. Sometimes, the condition arises as a response to other phobias, in which the sufferer develops an extreme fear of a particular phobia before it s even triggered.
