12. Pogonophobia: Fear of beards

While there is a whole generation of hipsters who love them their manly facial hair, there are people with an irrational fear of these tufty growths. Taken from the Greek word “pogon” or beard, this phobia was first identified by psychologist John B. Watson in the 1920s. Pogonophobiacs feel a deep distrust and suspicion of men with beards, whom they regard as unclean and untrustworthy.
