He is a former American football quarterback for the New York Jets drafted in 2011. He played college football for Alabama, and finished the season with a school record of 2,987 passing yards. In September of 2010, he was named the 20th smartest athlete in sports by Sporting News. He graduated from Alabama within 3 years with a degree in business marketing with a 3.85 GPA. In December of 2010, he earned a Master of Science degree in sports management with a 4.0 GPA. He scored a 43 in the Wonderlic test in the NFL Scouting Combine in 2011, though his score was originally reported as a 48. Whatever the case may be, McElroy still is one of the smartest in the NFL.
